Learn How To Speak Spanish Like A Native Speaker
When you learn how to speak Spanish, you might find that you are having difficulty pronouncing specific words or constructing sentences the correct way.
Although you may be technically correct, you'll probably notice that Spanish speakers say the words and sentences differently.
It's important to remember that you don't always have to use the pronoun. For example, if you say "yo," meaning "I," each time you could, you will sound strident. This is because using the pronoun is only necessary when you are emphasizing it. If you are constantly emphasizing it, you will sound foolish. When you learn these kind of Spanish rules, you will sound more like a native speaker.
You'll find that you can easily learn Spanish word order in its basic form. The Spanish language is similar to English except that adjectives tend to go after the noun they describe.
However, if you spend the time to learn Spanish word order by listening to Spanish speaking people, you will find differences. Meaning can have subtle variations when you change the word order.
There are many Spanish words that look very nearly like English words that you know. In fact, they can sometimes be considered direct translations.
However, some words look similar, but actually mean something quite different. Make sure that you pay attention to the exact translations of words when you learn Spanish. If you use some of these words incorrectly, you can end up insulting someone.
Remember when you learn Spanish that common phrases, or idioms, don't always translate word for word. If you try to translate an idiom word for word, you might get the meaning, or at least an approximation of it.
But there are many idioms that would seem to mean one thing that mean something else when translated as a whole. Using a book of idioms will help you learn the accurate translations. Don't forget, however, that different idioms are used in different Spanish speaking countries.
You can learn Spanish from textbooks, but you'll find that they're not very helpful when you're immersed in the actual culture. Most people don't actually speak textbook Spanish.
But that isn't surpising, since English speakers don't speak texbook English either. You'll find that by learning Spanish in a more conversational way, you'll be able to communicate better and learn more quickly.
Pronunciation is important however. The way you pronounce your "b's" and "v's" will mark you as a person who does or doesn't consider it necessary to learn Spanish well. Try to roll your "r's" properly too.
When you learn how to speak Spanish like a native speaker, you'll find that you soon fit in and aren't viewed as an outsider. Take the time to improve your Spanish, and you'll soon be welcomed into the Spanish-speaking community.
